What is Photoshop

Adobe Photoshop is a software application for image editing and photo retouching for use on Windows or Mac-OS computers. Photoshop offers users the ability to create, enhance, or otherwise edit images, artwork, and illustrations. Changing backgrounds, simulating a real-life painting, or creating an alternative view of the universe are all possible with Adobe Photoshop. It is the most widely used software tool for photo editing, image manipulation, and retouching for numerous image and video file formats. The tools within Photoshop make it possible to edit both individual images as well as large batches of photos. There are several versions of Photoshop, including Photoshop CC, Photoshop Elements, and Photoshop Light room. Adobe Photoshop is available on its own as a subscription that includes Photoshop Light room, and as part of the larger Creative Cloud subscription.

Version history

Photoshop's naming scheme was initially based on version numbers. Adobe published thirteen versions (major and minor changes) before the October 2003 introduction of Creative Suite branding. In February 2013 Adobe donated the source code of the 1990 1.0.1 version of Photoshop to the Computer History Museum.

CS4 features smoother panning and zooming, allowing faster image editing at a high magnification.

Photoshop CS5 was launched on 12 April 2010.

Photoshop CS6, released in May 2012, added new creative design tools and provided a redesigned interface with a focus on enhanced performance. New features have been added to the Content-Aware tool such as the Content-Aware Patch and Content-Aware Move.

CC

Photoshop CC was launched on 18 June 2013.

 

CC 2014 

Photoshop CC 2014 was released on 18 June 2014.

CC 2015

Photoshop CC 2015 was released on 15 June 2015. Adobe added various creative features including Adobe Stock, which is a library of custom stock images. It also includes and have the ability to have more than one layer style.

 

CC 2017 

 

 Photoshop CC 2017 was released on 2 November 2016. It introduced a new template selector when creating new documents, the ability to search for tools, panels and help articles for Photoshop, support for SVG Open Type fonts and other small improvements. In December 2016, a minor update was released to include support for the Mac Book Pro Touch Bar.

 

CC 2018

Photoshop CC 2018 was released on 18 October 2017. It featured an overhaul to the brush organization system, allowing for more properties (such as color and opacity) to be saved per-brush and for brushes to be categorized in folders and sub-folders. It also added brush stroke smoothing, and over 1000 brushes created by Kyle T. Webster (following Adobe's acquisition of his website, Kyle Brush.com. A Curvature Pen tool, similar to the one in Illustrator, was added, allowing for faster creation of paths. Other additions were Light room Photo access, Variable font support, copy-paste layers, enhanced tool tips, 360 panorama and HEIF support, PNG compression, algorithm improvements to Face-aware and selection tools, improved image resizing, and performance improvements to file opening, filters, and brush strokes .

ইন্টারনেটের মাধ্যমে গ্রাফিক ডিজাইন কাজ একটি বড় কাজের যায়গা। হিসেব যেহেতু ডলারে এবং অল্প কাজ করেই এভাবে হাজার ডলার আয় করা সম্ভব। টাকার হিসেবে পরিমানটা যথেষ্ট। যারা ইন্টারনেটের মাধ্যমে গ্রাফিক ডিজাইন পেশায় যেতে চান তাদের প্রথম প্রশ্ন, কিভাবে শিখব ?

এখানে শেখার সম্ভাব্য পথগুলি সম্পর্কে ধারনা দেয়ার চেষ্টা করা হচ্ছে।

প্রথমেই একটা বিষয় পরিস্কার করে নেয়া ভাল। ইন্টারনেটে কাজ পাওয়ার জন্য আপনাকে প্রতিযোগিতা করতে হবে সারা বিশ্বের ডিজাইনারদের সাথে। প্রায় সব দেশেই একজন শিক্ষার্থী গ্রাফিক ডিজাইনে বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় ডিগ্রী নিতে পারেন। বাংলাদেশে এধরনের ব্যবস্থা নেই। এছাড়া শিক্ষাকে একাডেমিক এবং প্রফেশনাল এই দুভাগে ভাগ করা হয়। বাংলাদেশে প্রফেশনাল ডিগ্রী বলে কোন বিষয় নেই। অর্থতি গ্রাফিক ডিজাইন শেখার জন্য প্রচলিত শিক্ষা প্রতিস্ঠানে যেমন ব্যবস্থা নেই তেমনি দীর্ঘমেয়াদী ট্রেনিং নেয়ার ব্যবস্থাও নেই। ট্রেনিং সেন্টার নামে যে ব্যবস্থা আছে সেখানে যারা শেখান তাদের অনেকেই ডিজাইনের মুল নিয়ম জানা প্রয়োজন বোধ করেন না। কাজেই তিনি শেখান কি করিলে কি হয় পদ্ধতিতে। তারকাছে কাজ শিখেই সরাসরি কাজ করার আশা করতে পারেন না।

গ্রাফিক ডিজাইন শেখার জন্য কি শেখা প্রয়োজন সেটা আগে জানা প্রয়োজন। একজন শিল্পীকে কয়েক বছর পড়াশোনা করে ছবি আকা শিখতে হয়। এই দীর্ঘ সময়ে তাকে শেখানো হয় রং কি, রেখা কি। কিভাবে একাধিক রঙের মিশ্রনে বিশেষ রং পাওয়া যায়। এই বিষয়গুলি বিজ্ঞান। ডিজিটাল ডিজাইনের ক্ষেত্রে কারিগরী বিষয় আরো বেশি গুরুত্বপুর্ন। ডিসপ্লেতে রং কিভাবে কাজ করে, কাগজে প্রিন্ট করার সময় কিভাবে কাজ করে, ইন্টারনেটে কিভাবে কাজ করে এবিষয়ে ভাল জ্ঞান না থাকলে আপনি ভাল ডিজাইনার হতে পারেন না। সেইসাথে বিভিন্ন ধরনের ইমেজ ফরম্যাট, তাদের সুবিধে-অসুবিধে, বিভিন্ন সফটঅয়্যার এবং ডিভাইস সম্পর্কে স্পষ্ট জ্ঞান থাকা প্রয়োজন। শেখার প্রথম ধাপ পুরোপুরি তত্ত্ব। কোন টুল ব্যবহার করে কিভাবে কাজ করতে সেটা পরবর্তী ধাপ। এই প্রথম ধাপটিই সাধারনত এড়িয়ে যাওয়া হয়। ফলে যিনি শেখেন তিনি নিজেকে ডিজাইনার মনে করছেন অথচ ক্লায়েন্ট কেন তার কাজ পছন্দ করছেন না সেটা বুঝছেন না।

কাজেই বাংলাদেশ থেকে কেউ যখন বলেন কিভাবে শিখব তার উত্তর দেয়া কঠিন। সবচেয়ে ভাল হয় যদি কোন প্রতিস্ঠানের সহায়তা পান। প্রাথমিক বিষয়গুলি অল্প সময়ে শিখে নেয়া যায়। যদি নিজে বই পড়ে শিখতে হয় তাহলে অনেক বেশি সময় প্রয়োজন। আবার অনেকে ধরে নেয় ট্রেনিং যখন নিচ্ছি তখন আর বইপত্র পড়া প্রয়োজন কি। এই মনোভাব নিয়ে কখনও ভাল গ্রাফিক ডিজাইনার হবেন না।

ভাল গ্রাফিক ডিজাইনার হওয়ার জন্য অবশ্যই পড়াশোনা করতে হবে। বর্তমানে পড়াশোনার সুযোগ অনেক বেশি। ইন্টারনেটে খোজ করলে বিভিন্ন ওয়েবসাইট থেকে তথ্য পাওয়া যায়, বিনামুল্যে বই ডাউনলোড করা যায়।

সেইসাথে কারো সহযোগিতা পেলে কাজ সহজ হয় অনেকটাই। কোন প্রতিস্ঠান বা অভিজ্ঞ কোন ব্যক্তি। এরসাথে খরচের বিষয় রয়েছে। আপনি যে বিষয়কে বাকি জীবনের অস্ত্র হিসেবে ব্যবহার করবেন সেজন্য খরচ করাটাই কি যৌক্তিক না।

ইউনিভার্সিটি থেকে একটা ডিগ্রী নিলে কিছু একটা চাকরী পাওয়া যাবে একতা ভোলার সময় হয়েছে অনেক আগেই। আশ্চর্যজনকভাবে এখনও অধিকাংশ ছাত্র এই নিয়মেই চলতে অভ্যস্থ। আশা করেন অলৌকিক কিছু ঘটে যাবে, ভাল একটা চাকরী জুটে যাবে। বাস্তবতা হচ্ছে মানুষ ইঞ্জিনিয়ারিং ডিগ্রী নিয়ে সেলস রিপ্রেজেন্টেটিভ হিসেবে কাজ করছে, এমবিএ ডিগ্রী নিয়ে ব্যাংকের কেরানী হচ্ছে। কারন একটাই, শিক্ষা প্রতিস্ঠানের শিক্ষা এবং বাস্তব কাজের সমম্বয় না থাকা।

আপনি এই ব্যবস্থা পরিবর্তন করতে পারেন না।  যা পারেন তা হচ্ছে নিজেকে নিরাপদ রাখতে যোগ্য হিসেবে গড়ে তোলার চেষ্টা করা। বাস্তবে যা করতে হবে সেটা শেখার দিকে দৃষ্টি দেয়া। গ্রাফিক ডিজাইন যদি শিখতেই হয় ভালভাবে শিখুন, অথবা মাথা থেকে সহজে টাকা আয়ের চিন্তা বাদ দিন।
